These long-term programmes are structured under NEC4 contracts and form part of a major strategic investment in the UK’s energy future.The OpportunityWe’re recruiting for an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor (MQS) to take ownership of the commercial delivery of three large-scale energy infrastructure upgrade projects. These projects are part of a national programme focused on modernising critical infrastructure across multiple UK sites.You will be a senior figure in the commercial function, responsible for ensuring best-practice contract administration, commercial governance, and supplier performance. The role provides the chance to lead commercial teams across a diverse project portfolio, contribute to strategic decisions, and shape the commercial direction of major programmes.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide full lifecycle commercial leadership across multiple infrastructure projects (FEED to close-out).Manage cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting using SAP and other internal tools.Ensure consistent and compliant NEC4 contract management, including EWN, CE, and change procedures.Liaise with client-side representatives to certify payment applications, agree variations, and manage commercial risk.Mentor and support Quantity Surveyors and Senior QSs, providing guidance across multiple locations.Work closely with change managers and supply chain leads to commercially manage variations, reprogramming, and performance.Maintain strong commercial records and audit trails in line with governance standards.Participate in monthly project board meetings and commercial reviews.Support strategic decision-making on procurement, buildability, and subcontractor engagement.Project ContextScope includes civil, electrical, and fabrication work to secure key infrastructure assets.Projects are located across England / Wales and are at different stages of the design lifecycleProjects involve operating within live environments and require careful management of seasonal construction windows.Sites vary in complexity, with some having limited legacy data, creating a need for proactive change and variation management.Experience & Qualifications7–10+ years’ commercial experience, ideally working on NEC3/4 projects (Options C & E preferred).Strong track record delivering large-scale infrastructure, utilities, or industrial programmes.Skilled in cost forecasting, change management, subcontractor engagement, and contract compliance.Confident supporting and mentoring commercial teams in a multi-project environment.Familiarity with contract management platforms and enterprise systems.Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent; professional accreditation (e.g. MRICS) desirable.What’s on OfferJoin a high-performing and growing commercial team working on nationally important energy projects.Long-term job security on a framework with significant future pipeline.Flexible working model with minimal office requirements and autonomy in how you manage your work.Competitive salary and benefits, with clear career development opportunities.ciaran@commercialtalentsolutions.com+44 79 32606765
