Payroll Specialist – 3 month contract
I'm working with a client that is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to improve end-to-end payroll processes based around the ADP iHCM2 cloud platform.
This is a 3 month role with the possibility of extension, working Mon & Weds in the office. They expect effective payroll delivery while at the same time producing standard operating procedures for all payroll processes and training the HR team on these; and if time allows identifying ways they can exploit system functionalities to improve efficiency.
Key responsibilities
* Process monthly payroll for about 500 employees.
* Ensure accurate input and processing of starters, leavers, changes, statutory payments, holiday pay and salary sacrifice.
* Generate validated payroll and people reports, preparing for month‑end and year‑end procedures.
* Review existing workflows and create processes to improve accuracy / efficiency.
* Create clear documented procedures for all payroll processes.
* Identify system shortcomings and draft specifications for any new system requirements.
* Support the People team as the Payroll subject matter expert.
* Deliver structured training to upskill the central people team on payroll processes.
Qualifications
* Extensive experience as a Payroll Specialist, with at least 2 years hands‑on experience of ADP iHCM2.
* Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, End‑of‑Year processes and optimising system configuration.
* Proficient in generating system reports, supplemented by Excel skills.
* Analytical with attention to detail to ensure high accuracy.
* Clear verbal and written communication skills.
* Effective at handling employee queries, discretion and data security compliance.
