This is a pivotalrole providing inspirational leadership of the multi-disciplinary deliverysuite teams and providing excellence in clinical skills and support to staff.This could offer a fantastic development opportunity for applicants aimingtowards a substantive band 7 role following. Successful applicants would berequired to work on both City sites at Leeds General Infirmary and St JamesHospital on a rotational basis.

S/he coordinatesand manages the day-to-day activities for the delivery suite, obstetrictheatres, obstetric high dependency unit (HDU), allocating the team inaccordance with capabilities and workload. Job Title: Senior Midwife (Delivery Suite Coordinator)

JOBPURPOSE/SUMMARY
Thepost holder is an expert clinical practitioner of midwifery. S/he coordinatesand manages the day-to-day activities for the delivery suite, obstetrictheatres, obstetric high dependency unit (HDU), allocating the team inaccordance with capabilities and workload. The post holder is responsible forthe unit out of hours and at weekends whilst on duty. S/he providesmanagement and professional leadership
Thepost holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development,implantation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting ofstandards of care.
Thepost holder provides clinical guidance and support for other members of themultidisciplinary team within the delivery suite, ward areas and otheroutside agencies i.e. GPs and community midwifery services.
He/Shefacilitates an environment that cultivates the concepts of evidence-basedcare and is responsible for supervision, education and professionaldevelopment of staff and students.
Thepost holder will assist in the effective management of the ward budget. Thisincludes monitoring and controlling revenue and expenditure so that budgetlimits are not exceeded, thus contributing to effective use of resources.
Thispost will involve direct liaison with delivery suite based at our sistersite, across the city.

Person Specification
Experience
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Willing to undergo training as necessary
* Experience of managing and leading a team
* Budget management
* Audit & Standard setting
* Current issues in midwifery
* ALSO course (or equivalent)
* High dependency in obstetrics course (or equivalent)
* Neonatal examination of the newborn course
Other Criteria
* Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements for the post.
Qualifications
* Degree in Midwifery or equivalent
* NMC Registered Midwife
* Recognised teaching/assessing qualification
Skills & Behaviours
* Capable of lateral thinking
* Excellent written and verbal skills
* Ability to organise and prioritise own and others workload
* Understanding of skills and knowledge required to lead and develop team members
