An opportunity has arisen for a friendly, motivated, reliable and enthusiastic individual to take on the role of Medical Secretary to the Sector Consultant Psychiatrists and Community Mental Health Team at Whyteman's Hospital, Kirkcaldy.
Working as a Medical Secretary, this varied and challenging post requires you to provide a high quality comprehensive secretarial and administrative service, ensuring the effective running of the team while working under pressure with competing demands. The role involves interacting with clients and carers, requiring a caring and calm nature and excellent communication skills. Exposure to crisis calls is routine.
You should have qualifications in business administration or secretarial services, or an equivalent, and significant experience within a secretarial service. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office packages, organisation skills, minute‑taking, numeracy, audio and keyboard skills, and proficiency in email, spreadsheets and database management are essential. Ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision is required.
Knowledge of NHS procedures is desirable, and knowledge of medical terminology or prior experience working in a health care setting is advantageous. You may be required to travel between locations within Fife.
You will be expected to attend in‑house training opportunities for personal development and ongoing learning. A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment.
