Culture Events Manager
We’re looking for an outstanding and dynamic Culture Events Manager to play a key role within Croydon Council's culture team, leading on the production, safety, and operational delivery of arts and heritage events and activities.
Our small team has been building on the legacy of the London Borough of Culture (LBoC), celebrating Croydon’s unique culture and communities through family events, outdoor arts, concerts, exhibitions, visual arts, textiles and crafts, grant programmes, creative wellbeing projects, and more.
We are preparing for our second LBoC legacy year, which will include large and medium-scale events such as Croydon Harvest, A Very Croydon Christmas, and Open House. There will also be a special focus on composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and an outdoor programme in partnership with the National Gallery. We will collaborate closely with colleagues in the Creative Wellbeing, Museum of Croydon, and Central Library, co-producing some projects.
You will be an experienced events and/or production manager within the culture sector, with the skills and knowledge to lead the operational delivery of an arts and heritage event programme, primarily in Central Croydon. Responsibilities include managing event safety and delivery processes, building relationships with relevant Council departments, supporting culture colleagues and grant-funded partners, and overseeing risk management. You will also manage an event operations budget, including procurement, contracting, and supplier relationships.
The ideal candidate will understand the value of culture in supporting regeneration and wellbeing, and be committed to inclusive working. You should have a keen eye for detail, strong written and numerical skills, and excellent communication and relationship-building abilities. You will work closely with artists, creative practitioners, communities, colleagues, and external partners. The role requires flexibility, the ability to work under pressure, and some weekend and evening work, especially from August to October 2025, with a possible working pattern of Tuesday to Saturday.
The position is initially offered as a one-year fixed-term contract, with potential for extension subject to funding.
Full-time, 36 hours. Culture Events Manager role profile
Closing date: 16 May 2025 @ 11:59 pm
