Job Title: Commercial Assistant Location: Southend-On-Sea Reporting To: Managing Director / Regional Commercial Lead Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time Salary: £30,000 -£35,000 About the Commercial Assistant Role Nolan Recruitment are recruiting a Commercial Assistant for one of their rapidly growing client based near Southend-On-Sea. My client is looking for a proactive and commercially minded individual to join their team, supporting the financial and commercial management of one of their new contracts. This is a key role, ensuring the contract is delivered profitably, compliantly, and in line with client expectations. Commercial Assistant Key Responsibilities: Manage the financial and commercial performance of the contract, including cost control, forecasting, and reporting. Support the preparation, negotiation, and administration of contracts and subcontracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal obligations. Assist in the preparation of bids and tenders, working closely with operational teams to gather technical and financial input. Monitor project budgets, track expenditure, and identify opportunities for cost savings. Produce regular commercial reports for senior management, highlighting risks, opportunities, and performance indicators. Liaise with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure smooth commercial operations and resolve any issues. Ensure all commercial activities comply with relevant legislation, company standards, and client requirements. Commercial Assistant Skills & Experience Required: Proven experience in a commercial or bid coordination role within the construction industry or similar. Strong understanding of contract law, commercial principles, and financial reporting. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Experience with contract frameworks is desirable. Experience using Sage 200. Qualifications: Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Business, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred but not essential).
