Building Inspector (RBI) Region 4 (Offices in Lincoln, Derby & Wakefield)
We are looking for a Building Inspector to join our Region 4 Building Control team. You will work with global leading designers, project managers, developers and clients, including tech giants and government bodies. We are seeking RBI’s across all levels who are seeking a new and rewarding career and who enjoy working within a well‑structured team environment.
You will be working on some of the country’s most iconic buildings such as the 22 Bishopsgate, the Walkie Talkie, and the Gherkin, and will be mentored to extend your knowledge and experience for long‑term development.
Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive site inspections and regulatory assessments – perform building inspections at various construction stages to ensure compliance with Building Regulations, review designs, assess materials and construction specifications against relevant legislation.
* Supervise inspection activities and enforce regulatory compliance – act as a Registered Building Inspector within your competency, supervise lower‑class RBIs and graduate trainees, interpret and enforce national and local building regulations, and issue formal notices on compliance breaches under the Building Safety Act 2022.
* Prepare detailed compliance documentation and provide consultancy services – produce inspection reports, compliance certificates and regulatory approval documentation, maintain accurate records ensuring traceability, and assist clients with building regulations advice.
Qualifications
* Professional qualification and regulatory registration at senior level – hold membership of RICS, CABE or equivalent (or be qualified by suitable experience), meet CPD requirements, and demonstrate compliance through registration as an RBI at an appropriate level (3G/3H).
* Excellent communication and client relationship‑management skills – demonstrate strong interpersonal abilities to work effectively with clients and deliver excellent client care across all interactions.
* Self‑starting problem‑solver with technical expertise – work independently and as part of large project teams, analyse complex issues, develop suitable solutions, implement them effectively, and stay up‑to‑date with changes in building codes and industry best practices.
