Introduction
BIP Environmental is an Environmental & Waste Management company based in Cheshire, operating a permitted Hazardous Waste Transfer Station. BIP support a wide range of clients in the safe and environmentally responsible disposal of their hazardous waste.
The Mobile Chemist role is based at BIP Environmental Ltd, Road Beta, Brooks Lane, Middlewich, Cheshire, CW10 0QF, 40 hours per week.
The basic role of a mobile Chemist is to travel to Customer sites and pack material, making sure it is suitable for transportion.
The Mobile Chemist will also be responsible for completing Ad-Hoc tasks as required by management and inline with personal competency.
Role & Responsibilities
1. Conduct waste audit on Customers sites, listing waste and detailing any packing / re-packing required.
2. Provide typed list to sales for quoting as required.
3. Generate risk assessment for subsequent onsite work.
4. Travel to Customer sites with packing materials and equipment.
5. Using your Chemical knowledge and expertese, List, pack and label the Customers waste ready for transport, re-drumming or overdrumming unfit packages as necessary. Ensure only chemically compatible materials are packed together. Provide content lists of all containers and a legislatively compliant load list suitable for onward transportation.
6. Transport waste to suitably licenced facilities as directed.
7. Act as a Site Chemist as required and as directed by the Chemist Manager
Experience and Qualifications Required
8. Site Chemist must be at minimum qualified to a HNC in Chemistry (or applicable scientific field).
9. Valid Driving Licence
10. ADR licence (or willing to obtain one)
11. IOSH managing safely or similar
It is desirable that Mobile Chemist have:
Previous hazardous waste management experience (>1 year).
An awareness of: HSG 71 - Chemical warehousing The storage of packaged dangerous substances, HSG 51 - Storage of flammable liquids in container, Sector Guidance Note S5.06 Guidance for the Recovery and Disposal of Hazardous and Non Hazardous Waste, Guidance on the classification and assessment of waste Technical Guidance WM3 Waste Classification.
