Club Manager - Limpsfield, Oxted The Limpsfield Club is a premier racquets and fitness club nestled in Surrey, offering a vibrant, inclusive environment for sports, wellness, and community engagement. Founded over 125 years ago, The Limpsfield Club has grown into one of Surrey’s leading family-oriented sports clubs with 2000 members. Located in Limpsfield, near Oxted, the Club provides a diverse range of racquet sports including tennis, squash, racketball, padel, badminton, and table tennis. Members also benefit from fitness classes, Pilates, a well-equipped gym, and access to professional services such as physiotherapy, personal training, and beauty treatments. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Club Manager to lead our operations and ensure The Limpsfield Club continues to thrive as a leading sports and social destination. SUMMARY Reports to: The Club Chair or another designated member of the Club’s Main Committee Responsible for: You’ll lead and support our office and bar staff and provide oversight of self-employed coaches and contractors. Key liaisons: Members, office colleagues, bar staff, coaching staff, suppliers, Club committees Salary: £50k - £60k, dependent on experience Benefits: Pension. 30 days annual leave including Bank Holidays which increases with service, performance related bonus, and access to club facilities Location: Due to the nature of the role, on-site presence is essential. However, we are committed to supporting staff with reasonable adjustments/flexible scheduling where possible. Hours: 40 hours per week over 5 days, including some weekends and evenings when required. ROLE DESCRIPTION Key Purpose: To provide strong, visible, and effective operational leadership and management of an inclusive, vibrant, and financially sustainable Club. To collaborate with the Club’s committees to develop long-term goals and plans for the Club. To lead and inspire Club staff and coaches to consistently deliver the highest standards of member experience. To promote the Club, its vision, values, and membership offer internally and externally. Key Responsibilities: The delivery of excellent customer service and member experience. Upholding and promoting the Club’s values at all times. The delivery of exemplary operational standards. The provision of safe, clean, and well-maintained facilities that meet, and where possible, exceed, the expectations of members. Risk management, including risk identification, assessment and mitigation and continuous compliance with all relevant legislation, including but not limited to health and safety, fire safety, safeguarding, and GDPR. Serving as both Designated Safeguarding Officer and Data Protection Officer. The effective recruitment, management, and leadership of Club staff. The effective procurement of coaching provision and key operationalservices e.g. cleaning, grounds maintenance, gas and electric. The preparation and presentation of reports and accounts to Club committees and members’ meetings. Financial performance against agreed annual budgets, including strong financial management, procurement and transparent reporting of financial information. Business development, the marketing of the Club, attraction and retention of members and the development and implementation of services and offerings that enhance the member experience and the Club’s financial sustainability. Maintaining NGB affiliation and LTA registration and compliance with all requirements Person Specification: Proven record of successful leadership in a senior customer-facing role in the sports or leisure sector, likely from a Club Manager or equivalent role within a member’s club or organisation of similar scale. Demonstrably strong leadership and people management skills and success in creating and maintaining motivated, inclusive, and high-performing teams. Strong financial acumen and commercial awareness with the ability to take concepts from inception to proposal and implementation. Skills: Effective communication skills, including presenting persuasive plans and business cases, engaging with committees, speaking at member general meetings or equivalent, and handling complaints or disputes diplomatically and effectively. The ability to build relationships and engage effectively with members, creating a welcoming and inclusive Club culture Confident in the use of technology, including CRM tools, club management software, booking systems, websites, social media and the full Microsoft suite, with proven experience for how technology and digital can drive efficiencies and improve productivity, revenues and the member experience. Highly numerate and proficient in the use of spreadsheets and analytical tools, with the aptitude and skills to use data and feedback to inform planning, solve problems and support decision making. Experience in budgeting and confident in financial analysis, including monitoring costs and identifying revenue opportunities. An ability to develop and implement marketing plans to promote events, services, and membership offerings. Excellent organisational and time management skills. Practical understanding of grounds and facilities management and the ability to engage and oversee contractors. Strong understanding of and experience of maintaining compliance with all relevant legislative requirements. An understanding of racquet sports, a working knowledge of their rules and cultures (and member expectations in relation to these) is highly desirable for this role.
