About the Role
We are seeking a reliable, proactive and hands‑on School Site Supervisor to join a busy secondary school in Redcar. This is a key role in ensuring the school site is safe, secure, well‑maintained and fully operational throughout the school day.
You will be responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day site operations, carrying out basic maintenance, supporting health & safety compliance, and ensuring the school environment is clean, secure, and welcoming for students, staff and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
* Opening and closing the school site daily
* Carrying out routine maintenance, repairs and minor DIY tasks
* Monitoring site security and responding to alarms/callouts where required
* Ensuring health & safety standards are maintained across the site
* Liaising with contractors and supervising external works
* Conducting regular site checks and risk assessments
* Supporting cleaning and facilities teams as needed
* Ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed at all times
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
* Reliable, trustworthy and takes pride in maintaining high standards
* Practical and confident with basic maintenance/DIY tasks
* Able to work independently and manage priorities effectively
* Calm under pressure and responsive to urgent site issues
* Committed to safeguarding and school safety procedures
Essential Requirements
* Previous experience in site maintenance, facilities, caretaking or similar role
* Good general DIY and maintenance skills
* Understanding of health & safety in the workplace
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable
* Experience working within a school or public sector environment
* Basic trade skills (plumbing, joinery, electrics awareness)
* First Aid training
* Experience managing contractors or site teams

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
