Job Summary
Category Manager (Band 7) – Whittington Hospital NHS Trust. This role supports Senior Buyers and Buyers, manages and develops the PPS contracts work‑plan, identifies savings to meet QIPP, CIP, and CRES targets, ensures contract coverage and benefit realization for Partner Trusts, monitors technology improvements, and provides advice and support on procurement activities.
Salary: £58,133 to £65,261 per annum (including HCAS). Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Full‑time. Location: Royal Free Hospital, London.
Responsibilities
* Support Senior Buyers and Buyers, ensuring projects are carried out effectively, responsibly and in line with policies.
* Manage and develop the PPS contracts work‑plan for the category spend, incorporating national and collaborative procurement priorities and ensuring use of the appropriate sourcing strategy.
* Identify and deliver savings toward the Partner Trusts’ QIPP/CIP/CRES targets, recording savings accurately and regularly.
* Work and liaise with all PPS staff to ensure an effective programme for category contract coverage and benefit realization for Partner Trusts.
* Keep abreast of technology improvements and developments within the category, and develop team members’ market knowledge.
* Support PPS staff in applying agreed process management and procedures.
* Provide advice, expertise and support to stakeholders for category product selection, market testing and related activities.
Person Specification
Experience
* Working within a relevant Acute and/or Community procurement environment, within the NHS, with knowledge of Soft FM, Hard FM and IT categories.
* Experience with acute hospital sector buying, local buying procedures and use of IT systems.
* Knowledge of EU rules within the NHS context.
Education and Qualifications
* Comprehensive understanding of the Procurement Act 2023 and other relevant UK public procurement legislation.
* CIPS Certified.
* Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
