We are seeking a qualified Pilates instructor to teach a weekly class during term time for adults with additional learning support needs as part of Northern Ballet’s Ability programme.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering the artistic and developmental goals of the programme. Using your previous experience as a Pilates instructor, you will help provide high-quality training to dancers with additional learning support needs, focusing on enhancing their strength, flexibility, and body awareness.
The ideal candidate will promote a practice that celebrates individual differences and supports dancers in finding efficient, functional movement to aid their body awareness and technical dance development.
Job Description
Qualifications and Experience
* Must have experience teaching Mat-Based Pilates to adults of all ages and abilities, with the ability to modify exercises for individuals.
* Hold a recognized Pilates qualification.
* Understanding of Safeguarding Adults at Risk.
* Experience in teaching dance is desirable but not essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Structure and teach a one-hour weekly Pilates session for Ability dancers.
* Provide varied and appropriate class material.
* Maintain appropriate staff/student relationships in accordance with Northern Ballet’s Safeguarding Policy.
* Provide feedback at the end of each term regarding student progress and future goals for the classes.

* Classes are held in a dance studio without access to reformers.
* Participants have access to basic equipment such as mats, balls, and TheraBands. Additional equipment can be discussed at interview.
* Two or three dance artists support the classes to assist participants as needed.
* This is a freelance contract, awarded on a term-by-term basis.
Hours: 10:30–11:30 every Friday during term time.
