The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training, and research.

The Trust comprises of four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. Main duties of the job

The postholder’s duties will be in the John Radcliffe Hospital and cover for the Thames Valley Vascular Network hospitals. The postholder will be expected to cover the full range of elective and emergency endovascular and open surgery in Oxford. Rarely this may involve the management of paediatric cases. They will work within a team which covers Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and Berkshire patients and will be expected to provide cross cover for leave. The department runs a Consultant of the Week arrangement for the on-call cover and the responsibility for all in-patients rests with the Consultant of the week when the post holder is off site.

All aspects of vascular surgery are undertaken by the vascular surgical department with most common procedures:

Aortic disorders – Open and endovascular procedures undertaken including complex aortic repairs.
Carotid endarterectomy – one of the busiest centres for surgical treatment of carotid disease including carotid stenting.
Complex management of peripheral vascular disease including diabetic foot disorder – strong link with the Oxford Bone infection unit and OCDEM to offer a comprehensive diabetic foot service.
