Core Responsibilities Practical Preparation: Setting up and testing apparatus, reagents, and biological samples for Key Stage 3 and GCSE practical lessons, ensuring all materials are delivered with precision. Health & Safety Compliance: Maintaining rigorous safety standards in line with CLEAPSS and COSHH regulations, including the secure storage of chemicals and the safe disposal of hazardous waste. Equipment Maintenance: Managing the department’s inventory, performing routine checks and repairs on microscopes and electrical equipment, and coordinating with external suppliers for specialized servicing. Laboratory Support: Assisting teaching staff during practical investigations, offering technical advice on experimental setups, and ensuring students follow correct safety protocols. Administrative Management: Keeping accurate records of stock levels, conducting regular safety audits, and ensuring all risk assessments for practical work are up to date and filed correctly. The Successful Candidate We are looking for a focused professional who thrives in a technical, detail-oriented environment. Requirements include: Scientific Foundation: A degree or high-level qualification in a Science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics) or significant experience in a laboratory setting. Technical Proficiency: Experience with standard laboratory techniques, such as solution preparation (molarity and concentrations), titration setups, and the handling of scientific glasswork. Safety First Mindset: A thorough understanding of Health & Safety protocols within an educational setting; current CLEAPSS training is highly desirable.
