Senior FPGA Design Engineer Reading - On Site Permanent TUALCOM is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior FPGA Design Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing advanced FPGA solutions for TUALCOMs cutting-edge Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) products. These solutions will play a pivotal role in real-time applications, requiring high-speed, accurate data processing and integration of sensor systems. As part of a new team in our purpose built factory, the first to be built outside of our native Turkey, you will design, implement, and verify FPGA blocks for complex systems, including the implementation of Kalman filters for sensor fusion, essential for the performance of PNT solutions. As a key member of the team, you will work with HDL (VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog) to develop optimised digital designs and ensure the functionality and reliability of these solutions through rigorous verification processes. About Us TUALCOM specialises in the design and manufacture of advanced RF navigation and communication systems. We are a global leader in commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions, offering the best performance for size, weight, and cost on the market. Our customers span the defence, law enforcement, and civil sectors, where we have established a strong track record through innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction. Following rapid growth in the UK, we are now poised to strengthen our presence both domestically and internationally. We are seeking a Senior FPGA Design Engineer to serve as a key technical authority on digital design for TUALCOM in the UK. About the Senior FGPA Design Engineer Role The role offers an exciting opportunity to work on next-generation technologies in the aerospace and defence industry, where you will contribute to critical systems that integrate data communication protocols and advanced signal processing algorithms. This is an excellent opportunity for an FPGA Engineer with expertise in high-speed design and a passion for real-time system development. What you will be doing: Designing, developing, and implementing FPGA blocks for TUALCOMs cutting-edge PNT solutions, leveraging Kalman filters for sensor fusion. Performing hardware-level verification and validation of FPGA designs to ensure functionality and reliability. Utilising HDL (VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog) for FPGA design and work with industry-leading simulation tools such as Vivado, ModelSim, and QuestaSim. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate communication protocols (e.g., SPI, I2C, UART, AXI) into FPGA-based systems. Engaging in signal processing tasks such as FIR filtering and FFT, ensuring optimised performance for real-time applications. Developing high-speed digital circuits that meet the performance and reliability requirements for PNT systems. What we need from you: Proven qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field - ideally at degree level. A Masters degree is a plus. Demonstrable experience in FPGA design, implementation, and verification. Proficiency in hardware description languages (HDL): VHDL, Verilog, and SystemVerilog. Strong knowledge of FPGA verification methodologies, including UVM (Universal Verification Methodology). A proven understanding in high-speed digital design and signal processing algorithms (e.g., FIR filtering, FFT). Familiarity with FPGA design and simulation tools: Vivado, ModelSim, QuestaSim, and others. Experience with data communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, AXI, etc., and their implementation on FPGAs. A demonstrable history in debugging FPGA designs using tools such as ILA (Integrated Logic Analyser) and VIO (Virtual Input/Output). This is an excellent opportunity to join a market-leading brand at the early stages of it's global expansion. This role will be one of a number of integral first hires at our custom Reading factory.
