Within Care and Rehabilitation Services, the philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outside community. Our aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe and causes of prison stress are minimised. Central to our philosophy is the relationship between staff and prisoners. Our training and operational practices emphasise the need to treat prisoners with dignity and respect and staff build positive and supportive relationships with the prisoners in their care.
HMP Rye Hill is a category 'B' training prison situated in the village of Willoughby, near Rugby in Warwickshire, holding approximately 664 sentenced male adults.
We now have an opportunity for a Stores Administrator to join our team at HMP Rye Hill to be responsible for ordering, storage, stock counts, stock rotation and cleanliness of internal and external storage areas as well as all postage and parcel security in line with contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain fluent effective control, distribution and storage of operational stores.
Set and maintain minimum and maximum stores quantities to ensure that the operation is not placed at risk and demand can be met without delay.
Anticipate the need of the operation and order stores to ensure that maximum levels are not exceeded.
Administer procedures to ensure that all operational cleaning stores are maintained within the guidelines of COSHH, safety data sheets and risk assessments.
Maintain up-to-date stock level control sheets for inspection and stock checks and transfer figures to an excel spread sheet.
Become the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all matters pertaining to operational stores and their storage.
Maintain an awareness of operational and facilities related projects and provide expertise, guidance and advice on your field of employment.
Ensure security of all stocks and secure items.
Maintain PPE and biohazard stocks and equipment ready for emergency use.
Act as the key keeper for the facilities building and open as directed by the Head of FM.
Assist in managing the Helpdesk
Provide direct liaison and support waste management assets, booking and receiving waste removals, receiving and tasking arriving vehicles to support such activities.
Assist in the management of contractors and supporting paperwork.
Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture across the Site leading by example, this includes the reporting of incidents and near misses in a timely manner and the application of safe systems of work for the role.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Essential Skills:
The ability to complete paperwork, report issues and conduct effective administration.
Experience of stores management.
A good working knowledge just in time stock management systems.
Computer literate.
Desirable Skills:
A Health & Safety qualification – IOSH/NEBOSH.
Full, clean driving license.
Strong interpersonal skills.
