Role Overview
We are seeking compassionate, resilient, and trauma-informed Support Workers to join our dedicated team. You'll play a vital role in supporting young people through daily routines, emotional regulation, and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
* Support young people with personal care, hygiene, dressing, and mobility
* Build safe, trusting relationships through consistent, attuned care
* Administer medication and assist with meal preparation
* Engage young people in meaningful activities and provide companionship
* Maintain accurate records of care and behavioural observations
* Respond to challenging behaviours using trauma-informed approaches
* Escort young people to appointments, education, and social outings
* Collaborate with families, therapists, and professionals
* Uphold safeguarding protocols and contribute to a regulated home environment
* Participate in reflective practice sessions and team debriefs
* Support young people in developing life skills such as budgeting, cooking, and self-care
* Contribute to care planning and risk assessments
* Promote emotional resilience and self-regulation through therapeutic engagement
* Ensure compliance with Social Care Wales codes of practice and CIW standards
Essential Skills & Experience
* Experience in children's residential care or supported living
* Understanding of trauma recovery principles and therapeutic care
* Ability to manage complex behaviours with empathy and professionalism
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Basic caregiving and first aid knowledge (certification desirable)
* Ability to perform physical tasks including safe lifting
* Valid UK driving licence preferred
* Experience in childcare, education, or mental health support is advantageous
* Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and regulatory compliance
* Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
* Commitment to continuous professional development
* Emotional resilience and capacity to remain calm under pressure
* Familiarity with digital care recording systems (e.g., CURA or similar)
