Job summary: An exciting opportunity is available thanks to a successful prostate cancer fundraising campaign! This is an externally funded position, with full-time, fixed-term appointment for 6 months starting in January 2026.
Main duties of the job: The post combines clinical responsibilities with dedicated protected time for research. The unit currently participates in several national clinical trials, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in patient recruitment for these studies, if interested. While some theatre exposure will be available, the post is particularly well-suited to candidates with an interest in audit, quality improvement, and research.

Job responsibilities
Research Component: The postholder will have protected time to:
* Contribute to ongoing research projects
* Actively participate in departmental audits
* Support and teach Foundation School trainees and medical students attached to the department
* Assist registrars and fellows in organizing and delivering a teaching rota for junior doctors and students
* Be involved in recruitment for national clinical trials
Clinical Responsibilities: The appointee will be expected to:
* Undertake three clinical sessions per week focused on robotic surgery and prostate cancer care
* Do ward rounds for postoperative patients
* Run Specialist Urology clinic and multi-disciplinary meetings
Candidate Requirements: The position is ideal for candidates who:
* Have a minimum of six months of Urology experience
* Have completed training in Urology
* Are keen on developing their research skills
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Taking on a lead role in planning, projecting, conducting, and publishing of several research projects relevant to the service.
Working with Consultants and resident doctors as part of a team to deliver the service.
Participate in Specialist Urology Clinics and MDT clinics.
Participating in Robotic Upper Tract and Pelvic theatre lists including post-operative cover.
Organizing operative lists on a weekly basis.
Ensuring up-to-date and accurate administrative and medical records as required.
Supervision and teaching of junior doctors and nurses as required.
