About you
We are currently looking for a Senior Licensing Officer to take an active lead in the day to day running of the Licensing Team. The role would be suitable for a licensing professional with a licensing qualification and at least two years’ local authority enforcement/compliance experience in a Licensing Team.
The post holder will be responsible for issuing and monitoring compliance with all licenses, registrations and associated conditions as well as investigating complaints and undertaking enforcement action when appropriate. This will include, premises licenses, gambling, street trading, hackney carriage and private hire, animal welfare, caravan sites and scrap metal dealers. Duties will also include the requirement to attend Licensing Hearings and Court and to give evidence and present issues and reports to the Licensing Committee and the Licensing sub Committee.
The successful candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to operate on own initiative with minimal supervision, high level of attention to detail and accuracy, and a flexible approach, as post requires some evening and weekend working, with the ability to travel around the district in an effective and efficient manner.
