Overview
Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Pharmacy Technician for homecare / high-cost drugs with Medicines Optimisation. Depending on experience, the role may be band 4 or 5. Closing date: 22 March 2026.
The Senior Pharmacy Technician will supervise the operational aspects of homecare services and high-cost medication, ensuring processes are followed in line with trust, local and national guidance. The role sits within the homecare and Medicines Optimisation teams.

Main duties of the job
1 Additionally; within medicines optimisation, you will help ensure safe, effective, and efficient use of medicines across the hospital. Working closely with pharmacists, nursing staff, prescribers and wider clinical teams, you will support high-quality patient care by delivering accurate medicines reconciliation, improving medicines safety, and helping patients get the most from their medicines.

Job responsibilities
To deputise for the lead pharmacy technician for homecare in their absence. To work with clinical teams including specialist pharmacists across the trust to maintain and further develop relationships to continuously strive to improve and increase the number of homecare services provided.

Person Specification
Experience
* Working within a team
* Managing own workload to meet the needs of a service
* Knowledge of dispensary procedures acquired through training and experience
* Working with Pharmacy computer systems
* Previous experience of training others
* Knowledge of CMM, the hospital pharmacy computer system
* Able to manage a team on a day-to-day basis
* Educational supervisor experience
Qualifications
* Additional training for checking dispensed prescriptions, supervising a technical area within the pharmacy to degree or equivalent level
* Knowledge of medicines management, including relevant legislation and policies acquired through NVQ3 or BTEC equivalent level qualification plus specialist training and experience to degree or equivalent level
