<div><h3>Deputy Head Greenkeeper – Sutton Coldfield</h3><p>Salary £35,000 per annum plus benefits at a prestigious championship golf venue.</p><h3>The Job</h3><p>Work closely with the Head Greenkeeper to manage daily operations, maintain championship standards, and support team development.</p><h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Assist in daily management and maintenance of the golf course and surrounding grounds.</li><li>Ensure the course consistently meets championship presentation and playing standards.</li><li>Conduct regular inspections of greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, roughs, and irrigation systems.</li><li>Support planning and delivery of aeration programmes, top dressing operations, turf renovation projects, and seasonal maintenance activities.</li><li>Monitor turf health and proactively identify and address potential issues.</li><li>Supervise, motivate, and support the greenkeeping team.</li><li>Allocate daily tasks and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.</li><li>Assist with training and development of team members.</li><li>Promote a positive and collaborative working environment.</li><li>Ensure safe and effective operation of maintenance machinery and equipment.</li><li>Support compliance with health & safety legislation and industry best practice.</li><li>Assist with irrigation system monitoring, maintenance, and performance management.</li></ul><h3>The Company</h3><p>One of the UK’s leading golf, leisure and hospitality destinations, delivering exceptional standards across its facilities.</p><h3>The Candidate</h3><ul><li>Previous experience within a senior Greenkeeper, Deputy Head Greenkeeper, or similar sports turf management role.</li><li>Strong knowledge of turf management, horticultural practices, and golf course maintenance operations.</li><li>Experience supervising, motivating and developing teams within a grounds maintenance or sports turf environment.</li><li>Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills.</li><li>Strong understanding of health & safety requirements and safe working practices.</li><li>Experience operating and maintaining a range of greenkeeping machinery and equipment.</li><li>NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Greenkeeping, Sports Turf or related discipline desirable.</li><li>PA1, PA2 and PA6 certificates advantageous.</li><li>Experience working on championship or high‑profile golf courses beneficial.</li><li>Knowledge of irrigation systems and maintenance practices desirable.</li><li>Passion for delivering exceptional playing surfaces and presentation standards.</li></ul><h3>Candidate Requirements</h3><p>All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role.
