Department Overview
The Medical Education Department is responsible for providing and quality controlling the Foundation Programme to meet national training requirements, aiming to improve patient care standards. Led by the Director of Medical Education (DME), Foundation Programme Tutor (FPT), and Medical Education Manager (MEM), the department strives to enhance the quality of medical education within the Trust, fostering a culture of excellent teaching and lifelong learning among all medical staff grades.
Role Summary
The post-holder will perform a key administrative role, supporting the delivery of high-quality medical education in line with Trust, GMC, and NHSE England North East & North Cumbria standards. Responsibilities include providing day-to-day support to training programmes, assisting the FPT, MEM, and faculty, and ensuring competencies are delivered appropriately to specific groups of doctors in training.
Main Responsibilities
* Collaborate with the Foundation Admin Manager and liaise with internal and external staff and stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of Foundation Programme teaching and training.
* Gather data for service development and address issues promptly, escalating when necessary.
* Communicate relevant information to Foundation Programme doctors effectively.
* Support doctors presenting with pastoral issues, and assist with induction processes.
* Maintain the Foundation Programme intranet and internet pages, including updating content as needed.
* Manage the Foundation Programme information on the Page Tiger induction platform and oversee GDPR-compliant data management.
* Assist with room bookings for induction, teaching, and training events, and support diary management of educational activities.
* Provide administrative support for meetings, including setup, note-taking, and distribution of agendas and papers.
* Support Foundation Programme training events and assist faculty and administration staff in meeting deadlines for reports set by UKFPO and NHSE.
* Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when dealing with colleagues and stakeholders.
This role is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of the Foundation Programme and supporting doctors in training to meet their educational and professional development needs.
