ONE Consulting have been engaged on a search assignment for an Electronics Engineer, on behalf of a leading defence electronics business based in Gloucester. The role is on-site and well placed for electronics engineers living in or commutable from Gloucester, Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, Cirencester, Worcester and the wider surrounding area. This is a hands-on Electronics Engineer role working on the design, development and integration of bespoke electronic hardware used in technically demanding, mission-critical applications. The work runs across the full project lifecycle - concept, design, build, test and delivery - so you see what you design through to a finished, working system.
As an Electronics Engineer here, you will be part of a capable, experienced electronics engineering group with strong technical depth across analogue, digital and mixed-signal design. It is a setting where careful thinking, solid engineering judgement and clean documentation matter more than slogans, and where good ideas tend to get acted on quickly.
The role:
* Designing electronic hardware (analogue, digital and mixed-signal) to meet challenging technical specifications
* Producing schematics, supporting PCB layout and managing component selection and BOM
* Building, bench-testing, fault-finding and integrating prototypes through to qualification
* Working alongside mechanical, embedded software and systems colleagues on multi-discipline projects
* Producing accurate technical documentation and contributing to internal design reviews
* Supporting project planning, technical risk reviews and continuous improvement
About you:
You are likely to be a degree-qualified Electronics Engineer or Electronics Design Engineer (or close equivalent) with around two to five years of post-graduate industry experience, ideally gained in a technically demanding sector such as defence, aerospace, communications, instrumentation or industrial electronics.
Useful experience and skills for this Electronics Engineer role:
* Schematic capture using Altium, OrCAD, Cadence or similar
* Analogue and/or digital circuit design at board level
* Confident lab work - oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analysers and bench debug
* Working from written requirements and producing clear technical documentation
* Any of: microcontroller-based design, FPGA, RF/microwave, power, or signal integrity exposure
Just as important for an Electronics Engineer joining this team: a methodical, curious mindset, an interest in the underlying physics of what you are building, and a willingness to take a problem from rough idea through to a tested result.
Due to the nature of the work, applicants will need to hold UK Security Clearance, or be in a position to obtain it.
What is on offer:
* A varied Electronics Engineer role with real engineering content - not paperwork
* Direct access to senior engineers and the people making decisions
* Long-term project visibility - you will see your work go from blank page to deployed hardware
* A supportive, low-bureaucracy environment with a sensible approach to work-life balance
* Competitive salary based on experience, plus a wider benefits package
To apply:
If this Electronics Engineer role sounds like the right next step, please apply with an up-to-date CV. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted to discuss the position in more detail.
