🌟 The Role
We are recruiting experienced Business Support Officers to join the Commissioning team within Children & Young People’s Services, supporting Alternative Provision and Education services.
This is a key role supporting the commissioning, financial management, contract monitoring, and placement coordination for children and young people across a wide range of educational and care settings.
🧩 Key Responsibilities
🎓 Arrange and coordinate a wide range of educational and social care placements for young people, including:
*
Mainstream and alternative education
*
Tuition services
*
Residential placements
*
Online education provision
💷 Provide finance and contract support, including:
*
Raising and managing limit orders
*
Checking and processing invoices
*
Processing uplifts
*
Handling supplier enquiries
*
Using the SAP financial management system
📊 Work closely with Finance, Procurement, and internal colleagues to ensure all commissioning and financial processes comply with:
*
Local Authority procedures
*
Audit and governance requirements
📈 Support the creation, monitoring, and reporting of placement and contract data using systems such as Capita and Liquid Logic, including:
*
Risk registers and issue logs
*
Attendance and engagement data
🤝 Support Contract and Commissioning Managers by:
*
Issuing placement and tuition requests to providers
✅ Assist with quality assurance and attendance monitoring processes, including:
*
Issuing quality frameworks to providers
*
Maintaining registers of returns
*
Supporting quality monitoring visits
📝 Support tendering and commissioning activity, including:
*
Preparing specifications
*
Supporting tender rounds
*
Minute taking, report writing, and documentation
🎯 About You
You will be an experienced Business Support Officer with strong knowledge of Education and Local Authority environments, confident working across finance, commissioning, and data reporting.
Essential:
✔️ Experience in a Business Support role within Education or a Local Authority setting
✔️ Strong understanding of Local Authority policies, procedures, and commissioning processes
✔️ Excellent IT skills, including minute taking, report writing, and presentation preparation
✔️ Advanced Excel skills, with experience manipulating data for case tracking and management reporting
✔️ Strong finance support experience
✔️ Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
✔️ Ability to work as part of a team and manage workloads using your own initiative
Desirable:
⭐ Previous experience using SAP financial systems
⭐ Advanced Excel qualification
