About the Role:
Are you highly organised, detail-oriented, and passionate about keeping operations running smoothly? We’re looking for a proactive Material Controller to join our Stores team and play a key role in managing inventory, supplier relationships, and procurement processes.
Working 39 hours a week, Monday – Friday.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Review and verify purchase orders, approving or rejecting requests as appropriate.
2. Track orders to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
3. Resolve supplier and vendor issues, including shipment delays and quality concerns.
4. Support the implementation and use of procurement systems to streamline processes.
5. Collaborate with internal departments to understand procurement needs and specifications.
6. Monitor inventory levels and place orders to maintain optimal stock levels.
7. Manage and report on bad stock inventory, ensuring accurate records and resolution.
Qualifications & Experience
Education & IT Skills
8. GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths – Grade C / 4 or above
9. GCSE (or equivalent) in English – Grade C / 4 or above
10. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Experience & Knowledge
11. Experience working with suppliers and managing purchase orders
12. Familiarity with stock level management and inventory control
13. Ability to track and follow up on supplier orders
14. Experience managing both short and long lead-time materials
15. Understanding of material control processes and bad stock management
Skills & Competencies
16. Strong communication skills across departments and with external suppliers
17. Ability to plan and prioritise workload effectively
18. Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
19. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
20. Proven ability to track and follow up on supplier orders, including short and long lead times.
21. Experience in material control and handling bad stock.
