Job Summary
The Department is part of Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services (BSPS), a network of six Laboratories: St Peters, Frimley Park, Royal Surrey County, Wexham Park, Royal Berkshire Hospitals and East Surrey Hospitals. The applicant will provide comprehensive support to the Blood Sciences service, including performing a wide range of tasks across all sections of the department, namely Biochemistry, Haematology, Haemostasis and Blood Transfusion. The department is a busy, vibrant environment that requires active and motivated individuals that enjoy a variety of tasks and challenges.

Job Responsibilities
* Use of laboratory analysers and automation
* Basic troubleshooting of laboratory analysers and automation
* Assist with the receipt, prioritisation and pre-analytical processing of potentially infectious samples
* Use of computer systems; request entry is an essential part of the role
* Answer frequent telephone queries and engage in routine personal interactions
* Maintain focus as some tasks are repetitive
* Demonstrate good written communication for documentation as part of good laboratory practice
* Demonstrate good listening skills and the ability to receive instruction and communicate responses and suggestions
* Flexible working, including late shifts and weekend participation as necessary
* Understanding of basic biomedical terminology and equipment is desirable
* Appreciation and demonstration of the Trust's core values is desirable
