Fixed Term or Secondment Opportunity* for 2 years due to funding. *Secondment Opportunity – Existing permanent employees must first discuss this opportunity with their substantive line manager and complete the secondment request form prior to interview. The opportunity has arisen to appoint a Nurse Specialist to join the Respiratory team at NHS Forth Valley in the role of Respiratory/Pleural Nurse Specialist Band 6. NHS Forth Valley provide a wide range of Respiratory services. Working collaboratively with a third sector organisation, Action on Asbestos, a robust Pleural service can now be delivered. As a Respiratory/Pleural Clinical Nurse Specialist the post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team within the Department of Respiratory Medicine at NHS Forth Valley. They will deliver specialist nursing advice to patients and fellow healthcare professionals as a clinical expert to support and facilitate high quality individualised care to pleural patients, relatives and carers. You will be part of a national network of Respiratory/Pleural nurses supported by Action on Asbestos and be required to provide frequent updates on service delivery. On receipt of an asbestos related condition, all cases must be passed to Action on Asbestos for specialist legal and benefit advice. In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team, you will provide specialist nursing advice to all patients diagnosed with pleural malignancies in line with local and national targets and asbestos related conditions. You will be expected to deliver specialist nursing advice to all patients, assist in co-ordinating and implementing an overall strategy of evidence-based care for a caseload of patients. The post holder will be responsible for organising clinics in conjunction with the outpatient and inpatient referral service providing reports on throughput, waiting times and possible areas for improvement for discussion at multi-disciplinary team meetings. NHS Forth Valley has ambitions to develop the Respiratory Service into a highly functioning and quality service over the coming years. There will be an expectation to contribute to policy and procedure reviews and to the future development of Respiratory services. The duties of this post require the successful candidate to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. More information on this scheme can be found at www.disclosurescotland.co.uk Hours of work are: 11.10 hours per week, averaged over a Monday to Friday pattern. It is expected that in line with service demand and unforeseen circumstances that some weekend working will be undertaken.
