Capex Recruitment are working in partnership with a civils firm in the Enniskillen area on the appointment of a Head of Civil Engineering to manage the delivery of all aspects of asset maintenance and new infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of professional, technical and administrative staff and the management of consulting engineers, contractors and other suppliers. The Head of Civil Engineering Design will provide advice and support to the Senior Management Team and the wider organisation on the planning, management, design, procurement and construction of civil and structural engineering works in two jurisdictions (NI & ROI). Whats in it for you: Starting salary up to £64,500 Hybrid working (2 on site, 3 from home) Flexitime 25 days annual leave plus all bank holidays Extremely attractive pension scheme up to 20% Responsibilities in your new role: Civil & Structural Engineering Undertake studies and evaluations of possible projects and compile associated reports Ensure that projects are designed and constructed to appropriate, technical, professional and legal standards Progress projects through feasibility, design, planning, tender and construction stages. Work closely with the Technical Services Controller to effectively manage and develop capital work projects to programme and budget Manage the commissioning and delivery of design and construction works procured through consultants and contractors and ensure value for money Ensure adherence to governance and procurement standards and regulations in both jurisdictions (NI & ROI) Take due cognisance of the protection of the natural environment and built heritage in all his/her duties and activities and ensure compliance will environmental legislation, regulations and best practice Provide advice and support to colleagues across the organisation on all aspects of civil and structural engineering and construction procurement Overcome obstacles to quality service delivery Health and Safety Possess a good knowledge of health, safety and welfare legislation relevant to construction projects Contribute to and comply with Health and Safety policies and arrangements Prepare health and safety statements /reports for construction projects Development of risk assessment engineering as a standard practice for all work undertaken Strategic management Assist with company policies, strategies and standards; contribute to creating a shared aim for the Body and promote business culture and values Develop methods, processes and systems to enhance productivity Ensure adequate operating systems are in place to maintain the highest standards of accountability Draw up regular financial and progress reports for projects Provide input for annual reports, business and corporate plans and long-term strategic plans Plan and manage the implementation of policy changes and review its effects Participate in effective change management initiatives People Management Lead, manage, motivate and develop professional, technical and administrative staff under your control to enhance performance and meet business objectives Create, maintain and enhance productive working relationships internal and external to the business Comply at all times with the regulations and standards of Waterways Ireland Complete staff reports and performance appraisals Identify and implement training and developments programmes Liaise with other disciplines and units within the company Liaise with community and local organisations Liaise with relevant statutory bodies Manage consultants, contractors and other suppliers What you will need to succeed: Minimum of 5 years relevant post qualification experience Minimum of 3 years managing and leading teams at a senior level Possess a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering Be a Chartered member of a relevant institution, e.g. Engineers Ireland (EI) or Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) For a confidential conversation about how Capex Recruitment can support you with your next move, reach out to Chris today.
