Qualifications
Our Retirement Living team is looking for an experienced Retirement Living Assistant to join us The ideal candidate would possess the following:
High School / GED completion
Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) Course or equivalent, or currently enrolled under Entry to Practice
Current CPR & Emergency First Aid Certification
Medication Awareness Course
Safe Food Handling Course
Ability to work a variety of shifts including weekends and holidays
Ability to maintain regular and consistent attendance
Hospitality/Customer Service training/experience (preferred)
Previous experience in working with seniors in long-term care and/ or senior living environments (preferred)
Ability to work shifts of days, including holidays.
Must maintain regular and consistent attendance in accordance with the Northwood standard
Responsibilities
Welcomes and helps new clients settle into their new home
Assists with client's personal needs according to their daily service plan(s)
Plans and organizes daily work assignments; prioritizes the specific needs of the clients
Develops an awareness of the specific desires of each client
Provides social, spiritual, restorative, and intellectual activities for clients
Liaises with and participates in family meetings as needed
Provides support for daily living activities based on client needs
Follows medication pass procedures according to the established practice guidelines
Provides full dining room service for all meals including meal preparation, portioning, service, dining room set up, and clean up
Completes daily housekeeping functions for clients and the common areas according to the service plan including light housekeeping, and personal laundry
Completes required documentation of work
Communicates with the Supervisor of Assisted Living or manager throughout the shift to ensure continuity of service for clients
Reports areas and equipment in need of repair
Participates in the client and employee incident reporting and investigation process as required
Salary: As per the Northwood scale
