Overview
We are a pioneering Trust focused on healthcare transformation, with award-winning research and innovation. We are seeking positive clinical leaders who want to help deliver first-class patient care to a complex population and be part of something special.
We prize training for doctors, nurses and other health professionals and work closely with local universities. We are developing partnerships with Kent and Medway's new Medical School (University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University, opened September 2020).
Main duties
The Gastroenterology service is seeking candidates to help develop specialist GI services such as upper GI, Barrett’s, pH monitoring / manometry, EUS, complex polypectomy and to expand the ERCP service in East Kent. Colleagues with other specialist interests are encouraged to apply. Several posts are being advertised to support the implementation of seven-day gastroenterology and endoscopic service.
The gastroenterology consultant teams provide ward cover on acute sites, support the Emergency floor with specialist care, perform daily board and ward rounds on the specialist GI / hepatology ward, and contribute to SAFER. The team is supported by specialist registrars, SHOs and FY1 doctors.
In addition to inpatient ward rounds, the post holder will conduct OPD clinics per week and general endoscopy lists, plus a session dedicated to a specialist interest. Expertise in ERCP is welcomed; one session per week will be dedicated to this for the appropriate candidate. The post holder may be required to work on other sites within the Trust.
