We are currently recruiting for a Dependency and Recovery Worker based in Thurrock. This role is offered as a fixed-term contract until 31/03/26.
About The Role
Evidence suggests that almost a third of those on community orders reported having mental health issues and/or substance misuse concerns, with 35 reporting alcohol problems that can fuel criminal behavior. The role involves supporting vulnerable offenders in the community through specialist treatment programs, aiming to reduce reoffending and ensure compliance.
The successful candidate will join the Thurrock Treatment and Recovery Service, focusing on clients under probation. The service provides client-centered treatment using harm reduction and abstinence-based approaches, and involves advising magistrates and court probation teams on substance misuse requirements, including ATRs, DRRs, and DToA. The role also includes training and mentoring probation staff to enhance their skills.
Key Responsibilities
* Providing services to people on probation in Police Investigation Centres.
* Increasing Community Sentence Treatment Requirements (CSTR) such as DRR, ATR, MHTR, and AAMR, including attending Magistrates' and Crown courts for assessments.
* Managing a caseload of approximately 15-20 clients, with flexibility depending on responsibilities.
* Providing coverage across the main probation office and satellite clinics, including some evening/weekend work with notice.
Candidate Requirements
* A Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care and qualifications in substance misuse.
* Experience working within substance misuse services and with CJ clients.
* Skills in assessments, risk management, and designing SMART care plans.
* Experience working with CJ agencies like police, probation, CRC, and prisons.
* Experience delivering structured interventions and facilitating groups.
* Proficiency in motivational interviewing techniques.
* Strong IT skills.
