Join the dynamic team at Arden School of Theatre as a Specialist Technician, supporting our vibrant performing arts department. We are seeking a skilled and proactive individual with technical expertise in audio equipment and studio operations, alongside a passion for creative learning environments. This hands-on role involves maintaining and operating technical equipment across rehearsals, performances, and teaching spaces, while delivering workshops, supervising student sessions, and providing specialist curriculum support. You will order, allocate, and maintain materials and equipment to ensure effective curriculum delivery and assessment, as well as support teachers through demonstrations and practical advice that enhance the student experience. This exciting opportunity is based at our City Centre campus to join our Performing Arts Department as on a permanent, full time (35 hours per week) basis. Rehearsal Room Maintenance: Overseeing the upkeep and functionality of rehearsal spaces, including sound systems. Equipment Management: Handling the check-in and check-out process for technical equipment, maintaining inventory, and ensuring items are in good working order. Audio Workshop Support: Demonstrating equipment and techniques during audio workshops, assisting students with hands-on learning. Recording Sessions: Leading and supporting recording sessions with performing arts students, ensuring high-quality audio capture and production. Perform routine checks and maintenance on studio and rehearsal room equipment. Provide technical support during classes, workshops, and performances. Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and servicing. Collaborate with academic staff to deliver practical demonstrations and support student projects. Skills, Qualifications and Experience To be successful in this role, you will need to: Level 2 English & Mathematics Industry relevant qualification as applicable by specialist function First Aid qualification (or be prepared to work towards within first year) Specific relevant industry experience Specific relevant specialist skill Ability to work as a team or individually Working to deadlines Experience in audio engineering, studio management, or technical theatre. Proficiency with recording equipment, DAWs (e.g., Logic Pro, Pro Tools), and live sound systems. Strong organisational and problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff. A proactive and collaborative approach to technical support. Experience working in an educational or performing arts environment. Familiarity with theatrical software such as QLab. Knowledge of lighting and AV systems.
