Job Description Currently we have an excellent opportunity for an experienced forensic psychiatrist to lead secure mental health services, providing strategic clinical leadership and recovery-focused care for individuals within the criminal justice system.
Salary: Up to £170,000. Position: Forensic Consultant Psychiatrist. Hours: Full Time. Setting: Medium and Low Secure Forensic Services. Location: South Wales, NP13.
Responsibilities
Act as Responsible Clinician under the Mental Health Act
Lead psychiatric assessments, formulations and treatment planning
Provide specialist reports for tribunals, courts and Ministry of Justice
Offer expert advice to probation, prisons and MAPPA
Lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated forensic care
Contribute to clinical governance, audit and quality improvement
Support service development and supervise junior medical staff
Qualifications
MBBS or equivalent with full GMC registration
CCT or CESR in Psychiatry and MRCPsych
Approved Clinician status under Section 12 MHA
Minimum five years’ postgraduate psychiatric experience, with 2 in forensic/secure
Significant experience within forensic mental health settings
