Job Title: Yard Operations Team Leader Location: Canvey Island Salary: Circa £32,000 (dependent on experience) Take the Lead in Driving Operational Excellence We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Yard Operations Team Leader to oversee the smooth running of our Canvey Island site. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll be responsible for managing daily yard operations, supporting your team, and ensuring safety, efficiency, and excellent service across the board. Key Responsibilities: • Oversee the day-to-day organisation of the yard, including vehicle flow and general housekeeping • Ensure the safe and efficient loading/unloading of transporters and vehicle movement across the site • Lead and support the team to meet performance targets and deadlines • Deliver exceptional customer service to clients and suppliers, handling any issues promptly and professionally • Maintain compliance with all Health & Safety and company policies • Provide guidance to team members and coordinate with other departments as needed • Manage team attendance, training, development, and equipment needs • Support recruitment, onboarding, and mentoring of new team members • Conduct performance reviews, address disciplinary issues, and identify training needs • Ensure incident and accident reports are completed accurately and promptly • Maintain PPE availability and ensure tools and equipment are safe and functional • Conduct weekly site inspections and keep the site diary up to date • Support the site’s ISO27001 compliance through regular audits and process checks • Participate in safety meetings, daily and monthly safety observations, and inspections What We’re Looking For: • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team • Full UK driving licence • Solid understanding of Health & Safety regulations • Forklift Truck Licence (J1 Rough Terrain desirable) • Strong communication skills and basic IT literacy • Background in mechanical work, vehicle maintenance, or metal recycling (advantageous) What We Offer: • Monday to Friday day shifts • Competitive base salary • Ongoing training and career development opportunities • Free on-site parking • Uniform and full PPE provided • Access to Benefithub – the world’s largest employee discount platform • Telus Health support service • Discounts on vehicle parts and selected non-auction vehicles • Vodafone employee discount • Paid volunteer day for a charity of your choice • Pension scheme with 3.5% employer contribution Important Information: This role is subject to satisfactory DBS, Right to Work, and reference checks.
