Band 7 CAMHS Specialist Nurse Practitioner

Fixed term 12 months

This post within City and Hackney CAMHS will be providing services to young people and their families 5 days a week over a 12-month period to cover maternity leave.

This is a community based post, located within the Adolescent Mental Health Team (AMHT) offering therapeutic work to families with specific emphasis on adolescents with complex and severe mental health problems.

The post holder will be able to offer flexible, evidence-based care including a range of assessments and treatments such as individual, parenting, family work and group based intervention, as well as specialist advice/consultation and liaison with other agencies


Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a specialist and experienced clinician with a substantial knowledge of the field of child and adolescent mental health. The post holder will possess strong engagement skills, the ability to work creatively in relation to severe mental illnesses, including psychosis and young people at risk of inpatient admission, and work effectively with complex multi-agency networks, including inpatient adolescent units.

It would be highly desirable for applicants to have some experience of working with young people at risk of inpatient admission, risk management and have experience of working and consulting in schools, children's social care and adolescent inpatient units. The post holder will directly contribute to the positive working environment within the multi-disciplinary team.

The post holder will have a high degree of professional autonomy, and will be expected to account for their professional practice through appraisal and audit.

Our Teams philosophy is to provide an accessible, high-quality mental health service for young people in City and Hackney which is sensitive to their cultural, ethnic, religious, contextual, family and developmental needs.

We promote mental health, well-being and personal and family growth. We emphasize giving our clients informed choices, as well as using available, appropriate, evidence based resources and treatment packages.

Our team works in partnership with young people, their families, carers and significant others/networks including statutory and voluntary agencies.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* Qualification in Nursing
* Registration with relevant UK governing body


Experience

* Experience of working with children and young people with a wide range of mental health problems, including in a CAMHS setting
* Experience of care planning


Knowledge

* Evidence of well-developed clinical skills and knowledge in CAMHS. Specialist clinical skills within specific therapeutic modalities
* Knowledge of and skill in using a wide variety of CAMHS theories and interventions and the ability to use these appropriately in relation to client need and work setting


Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
