Responsibilities
* Conduct risk assessments and method statements for high-risk activities like hot works, heavy lifting, and confined space entry
* Lead safety inductions, toolbox talks, and tailored training sessions
* Investigate incidents and near misses, producing root cause analysis reports
* Audit contractors and inspect shipyard environments for compliance
* Monitor environmental conditions and verify equipment safety
* Promote a proactive “safety-first” culture across all levels of the workforce
Qualifications
* NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction/Marine Safety
* Tech IOSH membership (or working towards)
* Strong knowledge of HSE legislation, confined space entry, lifting operations, hot works, and environmental risk management
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage a diverse workforce
* Experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, oil & gas, or heavy engineering environments
Bonus Points For
* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
* Auditing experience with ISO 45001 or ISO 14001
* Background in fabrication or manufacturing
Additional Information
Split between office and operational environments, with occasional travel and overnight stays. Flexibility is key—some days may extend beyond the regular schedule.
