City of York Council is excited to offer an opportunity to be part of our Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub with Children's Social Care. The MASH is a multi-agency team made up of representatives from a range of services, including Social Care, Early Help, Police and Health Professionals and is a single point of contact for all concerns about children. This partnership approach will make it easier to get children, young people and families to get the right level of support as quickly as possible. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Practice Supervisor to join our MASH. You will be working in a team of social workers, ASYEs, Early Help Practitioners, Police and health representatives. All are committed to offering the best possible support and intervention to children and families.

City of York Council is dedicated to a Model of Practice where we are Building Brighter Futures for the children of York and this uses a range of systemic and strength based practice tools including Signs of Safety and Family Finding. We are looking for an individual who can help us continue on our development journey.

The role of the Practice Supervisor will focus on supervising Social Workers with delivering an effective social work service. The role will also include supporting social workers to identify, analyse ad manage risk in partnership with other agencies and with the family and their network to find the right support at the right time for each individual accessing services. You will also be responsible for supporting your team's performance, care planning, chairing meetings and modelling practice to ASYEs and other social workers to build on their practice.

This role will require you to be suitably qualified (DIPSW/CQSW/Masters/Degree in Social work) and preferably have supervisory or management experience as well as being able to evidence skills and knowledge in line with the job specification. We will also expect a passion for working with children and achieving the best outcomes and achieve stability and permanence whilst promoting life long links with their family.

This role is suitable as job sharing position.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.

We require the successful candidate to undertake an enhanced Criminal Record check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express themselves fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
