OVERVIEW

Executive level position reporting to the Director of Cyber Threat Management & Incident Response, this is a hands-on senior security position working within the Information Security group and with the internal IT department. This position’s core focus is to ensure consistent, measurable end to end triage and closure of security related events. The successful candidate will work to assess, develop, and deploy detection capabilities and processes ensuring enterprise systems and data are protected, serving as the Incident Response Lead for European and Pacific regions of the organisation.

You will be a key part of our efforts to build and support a defensible environment where we are able to detect,containand respond quickly to threats and compromise in ways that serve to enable the business needs of a highly collaborative organisation. The environment isfast-paced and commonly on the leading edge of technology, including early adoption of various cloud services along with the challenges of integrating those services into our security practice.

Responsibilities to include:

1. Serve as the executive point of contact during major international security incidents.

2. Assistwith the defining and execution of the organisation’s global incident response strategy and roadmap as it pertains to the international areas of operation.

3. Lead and mentor the incident response teams, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.

4. Coordinate with both technical and business stakeholders during the incident response process.

5. Conduct day-to-day Incident Response activities as well asadditionalSOC related detection and response activities asrequiredfor a global environment.

6. ProactivelymonitorCyber Threat Intelligence resources to serve as the basis for searching andidentifyingrelevant signs of security incidents or anomalousbehaviour(Threat Hunting).

7. Design, engineer, and implement runbooks and playbooks for Incident Response.

8. Develop and implement strategies tocontainand limit the impact of security incidents.

9. Perform host based, cloud based, network based, memory, or log analysis and/or forensics in support of Incident Response investigations.

10. Influence and play an active role in CAA’s Security Incident Response efforts, working toidentifyand mitigate information security threats.

11. Reviewsecurity information, event logs, and reports, provide findings and recommendations for improvements and logging standardisation.

12. Responsible for the development of end-to-end security monitoring and reporting; ensuring expected controls are in place and performing as designed. 

13. Evaluate new and emerging threats against existing security controls; ensuring controlsremaineffective in changing business and threat landscapes.

14. Crafting searches and logic to detect anomalous behaviour in user, network,hostand cloud activity.

15. Create meaningful visualisations, reporting, and dashboards to help contextualise data.

16. Use input from IRM leadership and key security metrics to ensure technical security controls are meeting desiredobjectives; implement a process of continual review and improvement to ensure the measurable effectiveness of CAA’s technical controls.

17. Other projects or duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

18. A minimum of 8+ years in Information Technology, ideally withat least5 years’ experience in a hands-onincidentresponse,threathunting, or technical investigation and forensics role

19. A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field of work, or equivalent work experience

20. Ability to mentor and train junior Security and Incident Response Analysts

21. ExpertiseinCloud-based Incident Response and log analysis within a hybrid cloud environment

22. Experience developing scrips, tools, andmethodologyto enhance the investigation process

23. Strong technical background with experience in at least three of the following:

24. Identity Forensics

25. Windows disk and memory forensics

26. Network traffic analysis (NetFlow, cap)

27. Unix or Linux disk and memory forensics

28. Malware analysis – both static and dynamic

29. A strong understanding of the fundamental operations of servers, operating systems, networks, firewalls, cloud applications, and infrastructure

30. Expertisebuilding workflows and playbooks tofacilitatethe Incident Response process

31. Proficiencyin the NIST framework and using a continuous improvement loop

32. Has a proventrack recordfor building and managing frameworks to test andvalidatethe effective operation of security controls; measuring the ability to respond to threats and attacks at the earliest point in the kill chain
