Customer Relations Officer
Rate of pay: £17.47 PAYE per hour OR £22.52 Umbrella
Location: Reading RG1
Job type: Temporary until the start of November 2026
Working hours: 9am-5pm, Monday‑Friday (Monday in‑office, rest remote)
We are seeking a Customer Relations Officer to join a team on a temporary basis. This role is crucial for managing freedom of information requests, inquiries, and other customer relations functions including complaint management and data protection. The ideal candidate will handle a high volume of casework and respond in a highly articulate manner, demonstrating advanced grammatical and language comprehension skills.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
* Act as the first point of contact for service users, parliament members, and MPs via calls, emails, and letters, providing timely and accurate information.
* Manage a caseload of complex customer inquiries, ensuring prompt and correct handling by applying a thorough understanding of relevant legislation and procedures.
* Undertake quality checks to ensure management responses are clear, complete, and meet defined standards.
* Liaise with various departments to collate and address responses to customer inquiries efficiently.
* Provide complainants with appropriate advice and support, keeping them informed about the progress of their inquiries.
Skills & Qualifications
* Demonstrable experience in customer relations within a regulated environment.
* Proficient in IT with strong skills in Excel, CRM, and EDMS systems.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to manage complex information.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently in a multi‑disciplinary environment.
* Commitment to continuous improvement and staying updated with legislative and policy changes.
