Location: HMP Eastwood Park, Falfield, Wotton-under-Edge. GL12 8DB
Salary: £41,818.21 per annum
Contract: Full Time - 39 hours per week, Mon-Fri, Permanent
We are seeking an NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 qualified Mechanical Engineer (plumber) to join our team at HMP Eastwood Park, a closed category, adult female prison.
Role context
As a Level 3 Mechanical Engineer you will work within the Facilities Maintenance Team to support the safe and secure operation of the site, alongside plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters, cleaners, and administrators. You will contribute to delivering planned and reactive maintenance to building service systems.
Responsibilities and expectations
* Carry out mechanical and plumbing tasks in a prison environment in line with regulatory and safety requirements.
* Support the delivery of planned preventative maintenance operations for heating, water, and building service systems.
* Work with a multidisciplinary team to maintain safe and secure facilities.
* Help ensure compliance with water supply regulations and Legionella L8 requirements where applicable.
* Adhere to health and safety requirements and company policies.
Qualifications and experience
* C&G 6189 Plumbing and domestic heating
* C&G 5962 Certificate in Plumbing (Advanced Craft)
* C&G 6019 Mechanical Engineering services (plumbing)
* C&G 6018 Heating and ventilation installation
* C&G 6129 Certificate in Plumbing
* C&G 214 Engineering Systems Maintenance
* C&G 6188 Heating and Ventilating
* C&G 6088 Certificate in Heating and Ventilating
* C&G 6032 Advanced Craft Certificate in Plumbing
* EAL Diploma in Plumbing and Heating
* Experience working on commercial or industrial heating, water or building service systems
* Unvented water heater vessel course (G3) – Highly desirable
* Two years' experience as a plumber or equivalent
* Familiar with Water Supply Regulations and L8 Legionella requirements
* Good working knowledge of planned preventive maintenance and health and safety requirements
* L8 awareness training (Desirable, provided if required)
