* Yarmouth Steel is looking to recruit additional warehouse operative / sawyer, to support the continued growth of the business into 2025, the role will be varied and demanding, both physically and mentally. The successful candidate will need to be able to react to the needs of the business day to day, and work overtime to fulfil targets as required. Duties include, loading and unloading of vehicles, preparing materials for customer orders, cutting materials to customer requirements while maintaining high standards of health and safety and cleanliness. Ideally will have a sideloader license. Fork lift license is essential. Experience of heavy lifting and industry. Band saw experience would be preferable but not essential. Be prepared to work overtime as required. Have a flexible approach to working. You must be able to work as part of a team. You will need to be physically fit as the role includes many manual handling tasks. Candidates will need to demonstrate their knowledge of warehousing, and have experience in lifting many types and sizes of products, and not just pallets etc.. Once fully trained and competent in the role, candidates will be expected to work shifts as required. You ideally will have proven experience in using and programming machinery.
You will need to be physically fit as there are times when reasonable manual handling is required.
You will need to be able to work independently and as part of a larger team, when working you will need to maintain good working practices, and a high standard of health and safety knowledge, while delivering to targets.
Previous knowledge of other production machinery could be helpful, if you don't have bandsaw experience.
You will help to maintain the saws and keep them in good order, clean and safe.
The aim is to increase productivity and profitability of the whole site.
Ideally you will have forklift experience as all materials are moved with sideloaders, you will be trained to use the specific handling equipment.
We will provide training on the three different types of saw and the operation itself, but solid basic knowledge is an advantage.
