Title: Learner Engagement Officer (Term Time)
Hours: 37 hours per week, 40 weeks per annum
Salary: Between £20,746.79 and £22,553.75 (actual)
Chelmsford College is seeking a compassionate and proactive Learner Engagement Officer to join our team. In this role, you’ll be the first point of contact for learners in need of support, providing guidance, identifying barriers to learning and attending, and working collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies to ensure learners receive the right help at the right time. You’ll play a visible role on campus, engaging with students, supporting care‑experienced and vulnerable learners, and using data to create effective support plans that improve attendance, wellbeing, engagement, and retention. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting young people, attendance monitoring, strong communication and organisational skills, and a good understanding of the wider issues affecting learners in Further Education. The ability to work sensitively and professionally in a fast‑paced environment is essential. If you're passionate about making a difference in learners' lives, we’d love to hear from you. The role is mainly based at our Princes Road campus; however, staff are required to work between campuses to meet student needs. The post is 37 hours per week for 40 weeks per year which is college term time plus additional weeks to cover enrolment and CPD activities. The College is committed to equality and diversity and to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff to share these commitments. Starting salary will be dependent on qualifications, skills and experience. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
The closing date for the receipt of applications is 27th November 2025. Applications will be considered upon receipt.
