Job Summary
Deputy Finance Business Partner — Healthier Futures will play a pivotal part in delivering the Healthier Futures Programme by providing key finance support throughout all Programme Business Case stages, including appraisal and ongoing monitoring of Benefits and Workforce costings for economic and financial appraisals.
Main Duties
The post holder will provide comprehensive finance support to the expanding research portfolio for the Trust, contributing to the strategic objective of growing this portfolio in the transition to the new hospital.
They will work closely with the Trust Financial Management team, ensuring all processes are adhered to for all aspects of Healthier Futures revenue spend and acting as a bridge between the Trust Financial Management and Healthier Futures Teams.
The role requires technical accounting and business knowledge, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex financial issues effectively to groups and senior non‑financial people, including the Healthier Futures Board and executive teams. Motivating a small finance team is also essential.

Job Responsibilities
* Support the Deputy Director of Finance Healthier Futures in planning and coordinating all aspects of the New Hospital Business Case, ensuring all relevant factors are incorporated.
* Attend meetings with department heads and workstream leads and contribute elements that impact the economic and financial appraisals.
* Calculate and monitor all Benefits for the New Hospital Business Case and review the Trust CIP plans and business cases to identify interdependencies with the Healthier Futures Programme.
* Complete all Business Cases, ensuring costs are complete and accurate, applying knowledge of accounting principles for capital and revenue expenditure and understanding the NHS services affected by new developments.
* Ensure compliance with Trust policies, procedures and guidelines, alerting senior management if practice appears to contravene policy or if patient care is concerned.
* Monitor the quality of output, set quality targets, and ensure staff set objectives to improve their work; leverage Information Technology to enhance these processes.

Qualifications
Essential
* Demonstrate up‑to‑date financial management skills via significant progression towards CCAB qualification and continued professional development, or significant experience in a finance role.
Desirable
* Newly qualified member of the CCAB Body.
* Educated to degree level.
Skills and Knowledge
Essential
* Excellent analytical and reasoning skills.
* Ability to be organised and methodical in work and to discuss financial issues with non‑financial managers across the Trust.
* Ability to concentrate for long periods, cope under pressure and meet deadlines.
Desirable
* Understanding and knowledge of Better Business Case structure, including benefits structure.
Previous Experience
Essential
* Experience providing front‑line financial support in a multidisciplinary team.
* Technical knowledge and experience providing financial support for large projects or divisional support.
* In‑depth experience and expertise in a range of accounting areas including reconciliations, finance ledgers and coding structures.
Desirable
* A wider knowledge of Health Service finance and issues affecting the wider NHS.
* Knowledge of the NHS finance regime.
