Job Role: Civil Project Engineer
Location: Reading - (2-3 days on-site per week)
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 + benefits
About the Role:
A leading water and wastewater service provider is recruiting a passionate Civil Project Engineer to help shape the future of water and wastewater treatment across the Thames Water framework. This is your chance to be part of something bigger in AMP8, modernising treatment works, delivering essential infrastructure, and protecting the environment for future generations.
In this role, you will oversee the full project lifecycle, from initial feasibility and design through to construction and commissioning.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the design development of multiple water/wastewater network projects from concept through to contract award
Identifying, analysing, and mitigating project risks to support robust scope definition and pricing
Overseeing detailed design work by contractors and managing design changes during construction
Supporting project teams through commissioning and handover phases
Conducting design reviews to ensure safe, practical, and operationally sound solutions
Acting as the key contact for CDM Designer or Principal Designer duties in early project stages
About you:
HNC, degree, or master's qualification in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards it through a recognised professional body
Experience in oil and gas pipelines or multi-utility infrastructure (e.g., fibre optics, electrical cables)
Strong knowledge of project delivery in process industries
Solid understanding of Health & Safety regulations within the construction sector
Familiarity with engineering decision-making processes in industrial settings
