Role Overview:
The Consumer Strategist plays a pivotal role in placing consumers at the centre of the business. This involves developing a deep understanding of consumer behaviours, attitudes, and unmet needs, identifying the real problems to solve, and shaping experiences that are intuitive, relevant, and genuinely improve people’s lives. In close partnership with brand teams and cross-functional colleagues, the role helps embed a consumer-first mindset across the organisation while strengthening capabilities along the way. The remit spans the Northern European Hub, which includes the UK and Nordic markets.
Key Responsibilities
* Build a comprehensive understanding of consumers within cardio-metabolic health (Obesity & T2D) through segmentation, personas, detailed consumer journeys, and ecosystem mapping.
* Develop a long-term (5-year) consumer engagement strategy for the obesity area.
* Lead the planning, execution, and ongoing optimisation of consumer campaigns across the most relevant channels by:
* Partnering closely with the media agency on campaign planning
* Collaborating with creative agencies to guide development of campaign assets, adapt global content for local use, and create impactful local material
* Working alongside legal and regulatory teams to ensure all content complies with local requirements
* Working with BI&A teams while maintaining ultimate accountability for campaign measurement, monitoring, and continuous optimisation
* Collaborate with internal cross-functional partners (Marketing, Market Research, Digital, Sales, Medical Affairs, Legal) and external stakeholders (agencies, vendors) to ensure clarity, alignment, and seamless execution of consumer initiatives.
* Build consumer-centric capability within the wider team by demonstrating processes, tools, and techniques designed to prioritise consumer needs.
* Monitor external trends and adjust strategies as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor’s degree
* 10+ years of experience in consumer marketing
* Experience within a healthcare/pharmaceutical setting
* Strong leadership abilities with a track record of building, motivating, and guiding high-performing teams
* Deep knowledge of consumer data, insights, and planning tools
* Experience collaborating with media, creative, and research agencies
* High proficiency in analysing marketing data and generating actionable insights
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to simplify and communicate complex concepts
* Strong project management skills, able to manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment
* Resilience and experience driving consumer-focused transformation within a healthcare setting
