Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Consultant Psychiatrist to join our established Mental Health Liaison Team, providing high-quality psychiatric care within the acute hospital setting. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the interface of physical and mental healthcare, supporting patients with complex needs and contributing to service development in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
* The post holder will provide senior medical leadership, expert clinical assessment, and strategic input to the liaison service, ensuring safe, timely, and effective mental health care for patients presenting to acute hospital services.
* The successful post holder will be part of an experienced and friendly liaison psychiatry team, which includes consultant psychiatrist, Band 7 team leader, Band 7 Clinical Leads, Band 6 adult mental health practitioners, Band 5 Mental health practitioners, clinical psychologist, occupational therapist and administration team.
* You will be required to act as Responsible Clinician in conjunction with the incumbent Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist for adults detained to Royal Stoke Hospital with agreed cover arrangements in place for in and out of hours. There is a Mental Health Act administrator to support the team and to provide administration and oversight for all those detained under the act at the Royal Stoke Hospital.
* The Mental Health Liaison Team has key working relationships with the mental health teams including CMHTs, Crisis Resolution, Home Treatment Team (CRHT) Perinatal Mental Health Team and inpatient units within North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare Trust and the wider system.
* The post-holder will be approved as an Approved Clinician and will be expected to renew this approval according to agreed procedures. The post holder is responsible for maintaining their AC status and Section 12(2) approval and the Trust will fund training for this.
* The role will consist of 10 PA`s as a Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist as part of the multi-disciplinary Mental Health Liaison Team within the Acute and Urgent Care Directorate.
