Overview
Wolverhampton: City of Youth Culture is a 3‑year partnership project focused on festivals, events, career development and arts trails delivered by cultural organisations. We are looking for a talented multi‑disciplinary artist to create a public artwork that will be featured on an arts trail around the city.
Responsibilities
* Design and create a multi‑disciplinary art piece suitable for installation on the city arts trail.
* Facilitate up to four workshops (2‑hour sessions) with young people during the week commencing 1st July – 17th July 2024, guiding them to co‑create the final artwork.
* Collaborate with a digital developer to integrate the artwork into an interactive digital platform.
* Work closely with partner organisations and stakeholders throughout the project life‑cycle.
* Ensure health & safety, GDPR and safeguarding requirements are met in all workshop settings.
* Provide workshop materials and any required support to participants.
Qualifications
* Availability to deliver workshops between 1st and 17th July 2024.
* Experience delivering high‑quality artistic practice and leading creative workshops with youth.
* Proficient across multiple visual mediums (drawing, painting, sculpture, digital art etc.).
* Good communication, planning and organisational skills.
* Experience designing workshops that achieve learning outcomes.
* Passion for arts and creativity and a flexible, adaptive working style.
* Knowledge of health & safety, GDPR, safeguarding and experience working with SEND or additional needs.
* Willingness to work with young people from diverse backgrounds.
* Enhanced DBS check (current or stored) and £5 million public liability insurance.

Compensation
Fee: £1 000 (inclusive of travel and expenses). A separate materials budget of up to £500 per location/youth group will be available.
Reporting
The artist will report to Shannel James (Arts Producer) and Kelly Jeffs (Programme Manager).
Terms
This is a fixed‑term freelance contract. Full contract conditions can be supplied upon request.
