Our client is a leading, well established and respected manufacturing business. Due company growth, they have an opportunity for a Production Manager to join the already expanding. Our client design and manufacture highly complex products and are one of the world leaders in their field. Purpose: The Production Department Manager role is critical to the successful function of the business. Production Department Manager s will manage and motivate their team, ensuring their departments run efficiently; to a high standard of quality, whilst also driving continuous improvement. Detailed Responsibilities: Scheduling Create and maintain a list of all outstanding work for the department and add job time estimates for a long-term schedule Create and maintain a list of staff resources. Use this and outstanding worklist to produce a departmental lead-time figure weekly Calculate completion dates Allocate jobs technicians based on the weekly production schedule Allocate resources (team members and equipment) and detail on individual time planners Ensure work scheduled is completed in the time allocated using shop floor data capture Leadership & Management Monitoring adherence to company policies and procedures Be involved with department HR activities such as inductions, training & recruitment Set and ensure compliance of team to standard work/operating procedures Undertake regular team meetings to provide regular feedback and maintain the teams motivation towards the production and continuous improvement goals Health & Safety Must have undertaken H&S training on risk assessments and COSHH Ensure all department processes and equipment have up to date risk assessments Ensure all team members receive proper training in carrying out processes and using equipment safely Training Ongoing development of the Supervisor Creating new training documents for key processes or equipment Giving and arranging training for team members on relevant departmental processes/equipment Continuous Improvement KPIs activities o Updating Key Results on a timely basis o Reporting department KPIs on a timely basis 5S activities Continual improvement of department 5S Maintenance of 5s, ensuring 5s checklists are completed as defined by the 5S schedule Recommend and help implement process improvements to improve efficiency Suggest and support the implementation of product improvements Support with new product introduction (NPI) Quality Ensure quality is maintained in the production of parts Recommend and help implement process improvements to improve quality Raise and manage non-conformances through to completion Equipment Ensure the equipment database is up to date with all departmental equipment Ensure all equipment on the database has intervals set for calibration and maintenance Ensure all maintenance and calibration schedules are maintained Requirements: A good level of written and verbal English is essential Higher-level qualification (HND or bachelors degree) in engineering Proven experience working in a manufacturing and engineering environment Experience in supervising a team Strong computer skills with an in-depth knowledge of MS Excel
