Transport Planner – Full Time – Permanent
Are you an experienced Transport Planner with a strong background in HGV routing and a solid understanding of transport legislation? Do you thrive on the challenge of keeping a mixed fleet moving and ensuring compliance? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you.
Due to further company expansion we are recruiting for an exciting new role for a Transport Planner to aid with the smooth running of day to day operations as part of our dynamic team here in Croydon.

What are we offering?
* Full time, permanent working hours with no zero hour's contracts.
* A competitive basic salary of £30,000 Per Year.
* Working Monday to Friday from 0530 to 1530hrs
* Weekly pay on each Friday.

What will you be doing?
You will be the central hub for our operations, primarily responsible for the efficient planning of our HGV vehicles.
This is a hands-on role where your knowledge of compliance, planning skills, and excellent communication will be key to our success.
* Ensure all routes and schedules are fully compliant with Drivers' Hours and Working Time Directive regulations.
* Accurately plan vehicle loads, ensuring strict adherence to vehicle load capacity and weight restrictions.
* Serve as the main point of contact for our drivers and customers, providing timely updates and resolving queries.
* Handle general administration, including managing emails and maintaining records.
* Coordinate with the warehouse team to ensure seamless loading and dispatch operations.
* Office cover during holidays/sickness and peak busy periods.
* Professionally interacting with customers with a positive and proactive attitude.
* Taking telephone bookings accurately and dealing with queries from clients and couriers
* Maintaining our service level agreements with key clients
* Monitor jobs to POD and completion keeping everyone informed in a professional and helpful manner and inputting details on our systems
* Respond to emails requesting services or a quotation swiftly and in a polite and timely manner.
* Be proactive and keep all staff or customers informed of any issues/delays
* Adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.

Our ideal candidate will have proven experience as a Transport Planner and possess a strong understanding of HGV Drivers' Hours and Working Time Directive rules with proven experience in planning HGV routes with a solid understanding of vehicle load capacities. You will be a proactive and pragmatic problem-solver with a calm under-pressure attitude. Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build strong relationships with drivers and customers.
* Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
* Competent with IT systems, including TMS and Microsoft Office.
* Strong organisational skills with an excellent attention to detail and a true team player.
* Excellent, open and transparent communication both verbal and written.
* A strong, confident, polite telephone manner when dealing with our clients and customers.
* Be highly organised and an effective, logical thinker with the ability to multi task.
* Building new relationships and developing existing ones.
* Confident with all Microsoft Office Packages.
* Display an excellent level of initiative and problem solving skills.
* The ability to work well under pressure is essential.
* A flexible approach to shift patterns, where additional or different hours may be required during peak periods and staff holidays/sickness.
