SEN Teacher (Secondary) - Wimbledon - September 2025 Start
A highly specialist independent day school in South West London, catering to children with speech, language and communication needs, is seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Teacher to join its secondary site in Wimbledon from September 2025. The role involves supporting pupils aged 11–16 who follow a tailored, functional curriculum based on the Equals framework.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher who has a strong interest in delivering functional and life skills-based learning within a supportive environment.

Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-Time
Hours: 8:30am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday

About the Role
Teach small groups of students aged 11–16 with speech, language and communication difficulties and associated diagnoses such as ASD, ADHD and moderate learning needs
Deliver a functional, real-life skills-based curriculum (e.g. using money in shops, reading signs, cooking) guided by the Equals framework
Plan and adapt engaging lessons to meet both academic and practical developmental goals
Work closely within a highly collaborative multi-disciplinary team including Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Art Therapists, and dedicated Learning Support Assistants
Promote students’ independence, emotional wellbeing, and progress in a nurturing environment
Monitor and report on individual progress through regular IEPs, reports, and contributions to Annual Reviews
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Have experience teaching pupils with SEN, particularly ASD, SLCN, and MLD
Have a strong interest in functional or life skills education and holistic learning
Be committed to inclusive, pupil-centred education
Be confident in using AAC, sensory strategies, and assistive technologies to support learning (training provided if needed)
Work effectively both independently and as part of a dynamic team
Be positive, adaptable, and resilientExperience with the Equals curriculum is welcomed but not essential. Training and mentoring will be provided.
